Gastrointestinal Procedures We Offer

At Charleston GI, we provide advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures to help you maintain a healthy digestive system. Below is a list of the procedures we offer and what each does.

Colonoscopy

  • A procedure to examine the colon (large intestine) using a thin, flexible camera.
  • Helps detect and prevent colon cancer, identify causes of bleeding, and diagnose digestive issues like Crohn’s disease or colitis.

Upper Endoscopy (EGD)

  • A type of endoscopy that looks at the esophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine.
  • Identifies causes of heartburn, swallowing problems, stomach pain, and unexplained nausea.

Capsule Endoscopy

  • A tiny camera in a pill that you swallow to take pictures of your digestive tract.
  • Helps find issues in the small intestine that other tests can’t reach, such as bleeding, polyps, or Crohn’s disease.

Hemorrhoid Banding

  • A quick, non-surgical procedure that treats internal hemorrhoids by placing a small rubber band around the swollen tissue. This cuts off blood supply, causing the hemorrhoid to shrink and fall off naturally.
  • Helps relieve symptoms like bleeding, itching, and discomfort from internal hemorrhoids without the need for surgery. Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

  • A procedure that combines endoscopy and ultrasound to get detailed images of the digestive tract and nearby organs.
  • Helps diagnose conditions affecting the pancreas, bile ducts, and digestive tumors.

InterStim Therapy

    • A treatment that uses a small device to send mild electrical signals to nerves controlling the bladder and bowels.
    • It helps people who struggle with urinary or bowel control by improving nerve communication.
