A LETTER FROM DR. CORLESS

To my esteemed colleagues:

After three and a half decades my time at Charleston Gastroenterology Specialists will come to an end on 6/30/18 with the completion of my tenure as partner and practitioner. As you may know, Dr. Bill Brener and I founded Charleston GI back in the 1980s and have, with the help of excellent partners and a superlative administrative team, witnessed it grow into a comprehensive and highly regarded practice, providing GI care for thousands of Lowcountry patients each year.

I will still be doing office visits and performing endoscopies through the end of June. We have recruited an excellent gastroenterologist, Dr. Ankit Patel, who will be returning home to Charleston this August and will start seeing patients in early September. Dr. Patel grew up in West Ashley and is a graduate of the College of Charleston and MUSC. He is currently completing his GI fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. My existing partners, as well as our office-based physician assistant, Maria Kennickell, PA-C, will be happy to see your patients in the interim.

It has been a pleasure and privilege participating in the care of your patients and their families. I have learned so much from serving them and our healthcare community. As of now, I don??t have specific plans for what is to follow, but there are several interesting possibilities on the horizon.

Sincerely,

John K. Corless, MD
