Charleston Gastroenterology Center encompasses Charleston Endoscopy Center, Charleston's FIRST licensed freestanding and Medicare Certified facility. The Endoscopy Center offers a suite of minimally invasive and surgical procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, where we perform thousands of procedures every year using the most advanced endoscopic equipment. Endoscopy is the process of examining the interior of hollow organs via the use of a thin flexible tube equipped with fiber optics or video, called an endoscope. The enormous medical treatment breakthrough of endoscopy allows the direct examination of internal conditions, providing much more accurate diagnoses of problems. Endoscopy also allows minor surgery, including biopsy to be performed without invasive surgical techniques.
